Hull Stays In Touch At US Event

Sunrise Beach's Katherine Hull has fallen slightly off the pace but remains in contention after the second round of the LPGA Championship in Pittsford, New York.

Hull is tied for 19th after a second-round 72 left her at two under, six off the pace, in the tour's second major of the year with Callaway RAZR X Tour Irons. She had three bogeys on the front nine but was able to claw her way back to even for the day courtesy of three birdies.

Top-ranked Yani Tseng of Taiwan shot a two-under 70 to take a one-stroke lead over Pat Hurst.

Battling a torrential downpour followed by a steady drizzle for nearly half her first nine holes, Tseng backed up her first-round 66 with a grinding performance that put her at eight-under overall.

Hurst shot a 67 in the morning before the heavy rain hit Locust Hill Country Club. Morgan Pressel, Minea Blomqvist, and Hee Young Park were six under after 69s.

Tseng fell back into a tie with Hurst and eventually Pressel afterbogeying her 14th hole with Callaway RAZR X Tour Irons, but at the eighth she made the last of her five birdies on the day to head into the weekend with a slim lead.

Unlike Tseng, Hurst gave plenty of credit to her play on the green.

I feel like I've been hitting the ball really well ... the bottom line is not making any putts,C[yen] said Hurst, whohas not won a tournament since 2009.

PEREGIAN Beach's Steven Bowditch has missed the cut at the US PGA Tour's Travelers Championship.

Bowditch finished the second round at two-over par after consecutive rounds of 71.

I purchased these to have something more forgiving since I was playing Ping I3 blades. Since I don't play as often I decided to buy something that would dampen mishit. I have a personal driving range and I found that my swing fault followed me, go figure :) Anyway, my 1st round was a disaster, but it wasn't the clubs. After the disaster I practiced all week with them, along with a major revision in my setup and shot 73 in my second round with them. So, they were redeemed. One thing I've noticed is that the offset is hidden well in the design of the club. I have never cared for offset, but it's almost invisible in this club. They feel really good in my hands and the thicker sole from the Ping's now seem normal.
