What is the Loft Angle? That is angle which is formed between the clubface and centerline of the shaft. And it is the tilt degree of the clubface. As we commonly say that this club is 56 degrees and that is 47 degrees which refers to the loft angle. Each clubhead of the golf irons have the standard loft angle. And the different brands have the different loft angle in the clubhead of their golf irons.

The Face Angle means the angle between the clubface and target line when the neck of the club and the target line are vertical. Only the golf drivers have the face angle, but the golf irons and golf putters don't have it. That is because golf drivers are able to put the bottom of the clubs into the specific position so that they can reveal the face angle. However, to golf irons, when the players hold the irons, the edge of the clubface and the target line are perpendicularly crossed, so there is no face angle in the golf irons.
There are two kinds of face angle. The first one is so called Close which means the face angle when you put the bottom of the irons at the specific position and make the irons point to the left. If you use this method, you will drive the left curve. The second one is Square which means the face angle points to the right target and the face angle points to the right called Open. I purchased these to have something more forgiving since I was playing Ping I3 blades. Since I don't play as often I decided to buy something that would dampen mishit. I have a personal driving range and I found that my swing fault followed me, go figure :) Anyway, my 1st round was a disaster, but it wasn't the clubs. After the disaster I practiced all week with them, along with a major revision in my setup and shot 73 in my second round with them. So, they were redeemed. One thing I've noticed is that the offset is hidden well in the design of the club. I have never cared for offset, but it's almost invisible in this club. They feel really good in my hands and the thicker sole from the Ping's now seem normal.
