It doesn’t matter if they have a strong grip or a weak grip, a flat swing or an upright swing, or even a fast tempo or slower tempo. So the question then becomes how to get to the proper impact position?

Well, if there was one thing that prevents most people from having a solid repeatable golf swing it would have to be not knowing how to use the golf club. It doesn’t get much more basic than that.

Most golfers cannot help themselves from trying to help get the ball in the air. This is where all problems start. There are two aspects to getting a golf ball from point A to point B; the ball needs to move horizontally toward the target and the ball needs to get up in the air. The job of the golf club is to get the ball in the air. Each club is designed with a different loft that will do this to varying degrees when hit properly. The job of the golfer is to apply the force to move the ball horizontally toward the target.

One of the best tips for doing this is to imagine a stake or nail sticking out from the front of the golf ball and pointing in the direction of the target. Now use the golf club to “hammer” the nail. Try using this golf swing tip to help avoid scooping or flipping your wrists at impact in an attempt to get the ball in the air. You wouldn’t hammer a nail with your wrist flipping back and forth would you?

Besides, each of the big-money pros has a swing that’s unique to his (or her) physique. It’s hardwired into the DNA. That’s how they got to be big-money pros.

Does that mean you’ll never play better than you play right now? That you’re doomed to be a duffer? The butt of countless jokes from your buddies? A study in frustration?

No! Nein! Nyet! Non!! No way!

Because there’s another, more important truth.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t copy Tiger.

Or any of the top tour pros. You don’t have to even try. You shouldn’t try.  Rather just like I have learned that doing what i do best with the simple golf swing has brought out the pro in me.
