THE US PGA Tour players are notoriously long hitters and the course at the Mines Resort and Golf Club has been lengthened in order to make it as challenging as it can be for the Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia.
Lengthening of the course was required to accommodate the requirements of the PGA Tour and Asian Tour. The full course measurement now stands at 6,370m from 6,191m previously.
Holes 4, 10, 13 and 18 have been lengthened for a more competitive albeit picturesque setting for the tournament.
Another important transformation has also been done to the practice area with the construction of a new short game facility.
There is now a new 10,000 sq feet putting green along with a chipping green and practice bunker to meet the players’ demands during the tournament.
Hi,everyone! There are some new golf clubs in our store, for example: Callaway Diablo Edge Irons , Callaway X-24 Hot Irons , Taylormade Burner XD Irons
The driving range has also been given a new facelift with the addition of extended hitting bays and a new turf.
A new fleet of buggies totalling 100 units have been acquired for the tournament.
“I am very pleased with the changes that have been introduced by the PGA Tour to our course layout as it is now more competitive,” said Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, the founder of The Mines.
“It will be very interesting for both the players and spectators. We have had extensions made to several tees in line with the PGA Tour standards and to top it off, we have made refurbishments to the clubhouse for the players and visitors alike to truly experience a PGA Tour event.
“It is incredible that after hosting the World Cup in 1999, we can once again be proud of our country being in the same league as other great golfing nations.”
